I reached a milestone yesterday. My daughter, Kelly, graduated from high school last night.
I'm not sure how I feel. I'm happy for her, but sad for me. I know it is common to hear people say, "It seems like just yesterday ...". I didn't think I'd be one of those people, but here I am. She'll be off to college in the fall, leaving her brother and the rest of us behind. We'll manage okay, I'm sure, but life will be different.
As part of her send off, the family is going to take a European vacation this summer. And that's a milestone, too. Its the first time I will be completely away from the office for an extended period of time. I don't mean just physically, I mean mentally, too. For this is the first time that I won't be worried about the business.
Maybe I'm getting old and just worry less about a lot of things. Or, maybe its because Decade reached a milestone of its own. Whatever the case, nowadays, it 's just better here at the office. Better designs, better product, better climate - better people.
It's the company I always dreamed we would have.
Time for a vacation!
Well, so far, so good. The family is intact, the people have been great, and I'm enjoying myself.
